Update: April and May
Greetings!
We've been very busy at Maranatha Christian Mission and see no signs of slowing down any time soon; especially with my new, full-time side-kick, Greg Shults who brings fresh energy to myself and MCM!
Ministry that has taken place:Joe Guasti, and his wife Beverly from California ministered to pastors and leaders, at 6 different locations, who will, in turn, carry the message back to their churches. Also, we had another 3 day conference for pastors and leaders conducted by our dear friends Mary Elena, Louisita, and Pastor Raymond from Guatemala. They taught on Hebrew roots in Scripture. This message is very enlightening to the pastors of Nicaragua as many Spanish Bible translations are produced by the Catholics and contain their traditional interpretations. Discovering original wording/original intent of Biblical authors in a Hebrew context can literally change one’s theology and interpretation; it was a very powerful seminar.
Other Ministry Opportunities: 1) MCM dedicated our new “rancho “meeting facility at la finca: Regalo de Dios. Several friends of the ministry came to celebrate the growth and potential of this project and the future ministry that will take place on the property and in the surrounding community. 2) Yolanda also has had several opportunities to teach and share passionately at several meetings and also with the team of laborers who built the rancho...and of her, they said, "No one has ever talked to us about God like that!"
3) I have had the privilege of meeting and praying with several future presidential candidates who have asked for prayer and encouragement as they step forward with a vision to serve their nation with integrity. Please pray for their protection and wisdom during this heated political campaign season. 3) I also had the honor of meeting with the Chief of Police this past month, to discuss future training seminars for the police force on Morals and Ethics. He was very receptive to our proposal and has given us an open invitation. We will be organizing an event in the not to distant future.
Upcoming Ministry Events:
Pastor Randy Howard will be ministering to 3 separate groups -- to pastors and leaders, presidential candidates & national leaders, and finally to professional businessmen and women. Immediately after that, Pastor Charlie Speelman and a team of 11 young people will be ministering to youth in several churches and reaching out to young people in the community around la finca.
Project Updates:
The Lord has blessed us with seed and more fruit trees, a working windmill, and rancho. A new tractor is also ordered and on the way—all in answer to our prayers for building a new training facility that will become more and more self-sufficient and effective for training pastors and people to better serve the Lord, their families, and their communities.
Our Immediate Needs:
!) finances and monthly support for Yolanda and I as we continue to minister and complete the vision God has placed on our hearts for this nation.
2) finances to complete security fencing
3) finances and teams to continue ministering to pastors, people, and children--especially in the community around la finca.
Please pray for these needs to be met and for our continued wisdom, health, strength, and effectiveness! Ask the Lord what He would have you do to help and participate in His work here, in Nicaragua.
Your tax-deductible donations make it all possible, and can be sent to
Maranatha Christian Mission P.O. Box 201894 Arlington, Texas 76006.
God bless you all,
Roger Leyton
President of MCM
